CPI2026 Award Categories

Award Certificates will be emailed and posted following the conclusion of the conference along with prize money which will be EFTd. No cash will be exchanged at the conference.

Best Overall Oral Abstract Presentation

We are pleased to announce that this year there will be ONE award for best oral presentation.

The award:

  • AU$500 to the presenting author

Eligibility:

  • Be the presenter and first author of the submitted abstract oral presentation
  • Not have received the award at the 2025 CPI Conference

Selection criteria:

  • Uses quality improvement processes (use of PDSA cycles and QI methodology)
  • Impact and measurable outcomes (provide data to support findings and sustainability)
  • Innovation and originality (introduction of new or creative solutions to improve practice, use of interdisciplinary collaboration to improve care)
  • Clarity, organization and flow (the presentation is well structured and follows a logical structure)
  • Visual design (effective use of colour, spacing, images and graphics)
  • Time management

Presentations will be judged by a CPI2026 panel during the conference.

The Kei Lui Best Nursing or Allied Health Abstract Award

We are pleased to announce that this year there will be TWO awards for best nursing or allied health abstract prizes.

The award:

  • First Prize AU$1,000 to the presenting author
  • Second Prize AU$500 to the presenting author

Eligibility:

  • Be the presenter and first author of the submitted abstract presentation and a nursing or allied health delegate
  • Both poster and oral presentations are eligible

Selection criteria:

We are pleased to announce that this year there will be ONE award for best neonatal trainee abstract.

The award:

  • AU$500 to the presenting author

Eligibility:

  • Be the presenter and first author of the submitted abstract presentation and a neonatal trainee delegate
  • Both poster and oral presentations are eligible

Selection criteria:

NeoPaed Award For Best CPI Initiative in a Special Care Nursery (level 2 unit)

We are pleased to announce that this year there will be ONE award for best abstract submitted by a special care nursery.

The award:

  • AU$500 to the presenting author

Eligibility:

  • Be the presenter and first author of the submitted abstract presentation
  • Both poster and oral presentations are eligible

Selection criteria:

  • Must be submitted by SCN units with QI initiatives from within that SCN unit
  • Uses quality improvement processes (use of PDSA cycles and QI methodology)
  • Impact and measurable outcomes (provide data to support findings and sustainability)
  • Innovation and originality (introduction of new or creative solutions to improve practice, use of interdisciplinary collaboration to improve care)
  • Clarity, organization and flow (the presentation is well structured and follows a logical structure)
  • Visual design (effective use of colour, spacing, images and graphics)
  • Time management

Indigenous health equity - improving outcomes & flourishing for Indigenous people

We are pleased to announce that this year there will be ONE award for best abstract submitted by an indigenous author on indigenous health equity, improving outcomes and flourishing for Indigenous people.

The award:

  • AU$500 to the presenting author

Eligibility:

  • Be the indigenous presenter and first author of the submitted abstract presentation
  • Both poster and oral presentations are eligible

Selection criteria:

  • Uses quality improvement processes (use of PDSA cycles and QI methodology)
  • Impact and measurable outcomes (provide data to support findings and sustainability)
  • Innovation and originality (introduction of new or creative solutions to improve practice, use of interdisciplinary collaboration to improve care)
  • Clarity, organization and flow (the presentation is well structured and follows a logical structure)

Presentations will be judged by an indigenous CPI2026 panel during the conference.

 

Parent Collaboration Award

We are pleased to announce that this year there will be ONE award for best abstract presentation covering parent collaboration.

The award:

  • AU$500 to the presenting author

Eligibility:

  • Be the presenter and first author of the submitted abstract presentation, parents are encouraged to present and author submissions
  • Both poster and oral presentations are eligible

Selection criteria:

  • Uses quality improvement processes (use of PDSA cycles and QI methodology)
  • Impact and measurable outcomes (provide data to support findings and sustainability)
  • Innovation and originality (introduction of new or creative solutions to improve practice, use of interdisciplinary collaboration to improve care)

People’s Choice Award

We are pleased to announce that this year there will be TWO awards for People's Choice (one poster and one oral).

The award:

  • AU$250 to the presenting author people’s choice ORAL
  • AU$250 to the presenting author people’s choice POSTER

Eligibility:

  • Be the presenter and first author of the abstract presentation

Selection criteria:

  • As voted for by conference delegates
  • Delegates should consider; CPI methods, real world impact, poster design and presentation when voting

Presentations will be judged by a CPI2025 panel during the conference.

 

CHIESI Award for Best Abstract in Neonatal Respiratory Research

We are pleased to announce that this year there will be up to two Chiesi Sponsored Neonatal Research Awards.

 

Chiesi

The award:

  • Up to 2 x AU$4,000 towards attendance at national or international congress (sharing as determined by members of the winning research teams and evidence of registration must be provided before prize money is EFTd)

Eligibility:

  • Individual/team of Neonatologist/paediatrician, fellow, senior clinical nurse or other reasearch staff who is a CPI2026 delegate from an ANZNN member unit/network
  • Must be available to attend an international congress during the calendar year 2027

How to apply:

  • Present the unit’s best research, real world experience, epidemiological, case series or clinical practice improvement studies in respiratory neonatology from the previous 12 months
  • This is to be presented as a one-page summary
  • 2.54 cm margins
  • Arial font, size 12, single spaced
  • Title should be in CAPITALS at the top of the page followed by the Author
  • Only one author to be listed and they must be a CPI2026 delegate and attend the conference on Tuesday 20th October 2026 to accept the award
  • Maximum of one small table or figure is allowed within the space of the one page
  • Submit in PDF format with file name as Surname_Chiesi_Award_Submission_2026.pdf
  • Submitted with email subject line CHIESI HEALTH AWARD to anznn@unsw.edu.au by 09:00 [AEST] Monday 6TH JULY 2026

Please note:

  • The submissions will be judged by a CPI2026 selection panel
  • The submissions will be separate and independent of the CPI2026 abstract process
  • Selected finalist abstracts will be invited to present at CPI 2026 conference for the judging of the Award
  • The judging panel will determine and inform authors whether the abstract will be presented as a plenary presentation or poster presentation at the conference
  • The work described in the submission can overlap with CPI2026 abstract submissions a delegate may have already made
  • Award fund will be transferred to reasearch team member(s) when proof of 2027 conference registration or attandance have been received
